Town centre update
Chatham
Place – Q-Park has secured the Park Mark
award for its new car park at Chatham Place. Intex
Cleaning Services – the contractor appointed by
Reading UK CIC - through its Business Improvement District
Committee - is
currently undertaking the fourth cycle of steam cleaning and chewing
gum removal
in the town centre. As with previous cleans, they are operating
overnight from 7.00 pm - 7.00 am, five days a week.
Market
Place – the second event in the newly refurbished
Market Place area will be a speciality market staged by The Freemarketeers: ‘The
Big Green Market’ will take place from Thursday 13 to Saturday
15 December.
Resurfacing works
will take place throughout the Market Place area between 7pm on
Friday 2 November and 5am on
Monday 5 November.
Civic
area -
Reading Borough Council has unveiled plans to build a new theatre
and library complex next
to the proposed
civic

Retail
Mango Kick,
a juice and salad bar, is now operating from 17 Harris Arcade,
where the refurbishment works are almost
complete.
Sushi One0Eight is now open at 19 Queen Victoria Street.
Davina’s is due to start fitting out at 20 Market Place.
Broad Street
Mall Puss in Boots
has relocated from Harris Arcade and taken 117 BSM, on the first
floor.
Schticla Shoes
has commenced fitting out at 54 BSM (ex Colorama unit).
The Name
Shop.net has opened for trade in 48 BSM (temporary trader).
Hidden
Hearing has opened in 19 Oxford Road.
Those wishing
to buy tickets for the BSM Charity Ball should do so soon in order
to avoid

been re-opened but not as a franchise, as before.
Reading’s first real ice rink will be installed on The Oracle
Riverside from 30 November, running
until 6 January 2008. Tickets will be £7 for adults and £5
for children (under 12).

Egypt: Reading’s
Egyptology collection

Amazing treasures
from the museum’s Egyptology
collection are on display for the first time in many years in our Ancient Egypt
exhibition. The exhibition illustrates aspects of life and death
in Ancient Egypt and includes complementary objects loaned by the British Museum
and, from Birmingham Museum, the mummy of Namenkhet-Amun.
